Yet another wonderful year for the Suited and Booted Studios team.
We began with a branding spruce-up! So after a few months of developing and trying on new logos we were pleased to launch a new logo and website.
As lots of you already call us S&B, we decided to make the most of this and use S&B Studios in our new look.
Have a look round when you have finished reading this blog and let us know what you think!
While we have been running the usual slate of commercial and corporate projects there is one film this year that we are most proud of.
A letter to my younger self was in development and production for the majority of the year. It began when we were approached by Into Film who had been working with the Malik Bendjelloul Foundation and wanted to make a film aimed at young men who were struggling with their mental health..
Our team worked in collaboration with young people from CAMHS participation group in Bath to produce a really powerful short film that will be used as part of a new training resource around this issues called Boys in Mind.
The idea behind the film is that sometimes you wish you knew then what you know now.
Filmed over 2 days and with some very inspiring people who put themselves in front of the camera for us, we hope that this film will help will people understand that in talking about your problems, you can find a way through.
We are delighted that as the year comes to an end, this project has reached over 11 thousand people, had 3,000 views and 77 shares with these figures rising daily.
Kat, our jnr production coordinator, worked closely on this project and said –
“I am so happy this is the first film I got to produce as it is truly inspiring. I really hope we can start to make a difference to young men’s mental health.”
We were really proud to be a part of this project and we hope it helps people realise they aren’t alone.
You can watch here, and please feel free to share.
As always, the heart of what we do is making films. Most of the time this is on location but this year we have worked in 2 lovely studio spaces to produce some very diverse work. So thanks to our friends at Sandstorm and Band Studios.
The good ole’ USofA has featured a lot this year too. We really should be collecting those airmiles after trips to Washington DC, Milan and Chicago to name a few.
Again this year we have worked with some of the most talented agencies and creatives in the south west, producing work for a rich and diverse range of clients who wanted to tell their stories on multiple digital platforms.
We have made documentaries about cyber security, animations about parking and wedding gifting (not at the same time!) and several musical inspired films.
We have worked for large international hotel chains and small local charities and each project has been crafted with creativity and care.
And we still had some time for fun! Jess added “a touch of class” to a Bath Rugby event at Farleigh House with her beautiful piano playing and then she and Kat got to cheer on the team from the hospitality stand, thanks to our friends Napthine Porter.
While the whole team had a right good knees up at the Creative Bath summer party, not least as we were the proud winners of first Creative Bath Best Film and Video award.
And looking forward to 2018 we’ve got four members of our team running the Bath Half Marathon next year so they are gradually beginning their training as the year draws to a close. The rest of our team are looking forward to see if they can spot our runners in the crowds and catching them on camera!
Most excitingly we are launching a fantastic new product to help our clients manage their video archive. The Arc will be rolled out in 2018 and we think it is going to add a whole new level to the service we can offer clients whilst giving them the opportunity to get more from their video content.
So from all of us here at S&B Studios,
we wish you all the very best for the New Year.
We look forward to catching up in 2018!
