Barcelona-based production company Mylapse created this stunning timelapse film in the Barrier Reef, to raise awareness about the dangers corals are facing worldwide.
Timelapse is a great tool for speeding up gradual movement that can’t be seen by the naked eye. We often see it used to show things like construction work and the movement of clouds in the sky, but when it’s used on such a mysterious and unpredictable subject, the results are staggering. Seeing the beauty of corals in this unique and intimate way encourages the viewer to see the importance of protecting these endangered creatures.
“Coral Colors” took 1 year and 25,000 photographs to make, Mylapse used a 100mm macro lens on Canon’s 7D and 550D.
